This Eltham North residential project was designed and constructed by ID Landscaping in 2025, transforming a compact backyard into a layered, highly functional outdoor living space. The brief focused on creating zones for entertaining, growing and everyday use, while ensuring the garden felt connected to its bushland setting and suited the needs of a young family.

Crazy paving weaves through the landscape, guiding movement toward a timber pergola that forms the heart of the garden. The pergola features a reo-mesh frame, designed to support climbing grapevines and provide dappled summer shade over the adjoining paved area. Carefully repaired brickwork helps tie existing elements into the new layout, ensuring a seamless transition between old and new.

A standout feature of the garden is the radial firepit zone, constructed from recycled red bricks and paired with sawn granite seating to create a warm, inviting gathering space. New retaining walls manage level changes across the site, allowing planting to be layered and integrated naturally throughout the garden.

A separate, fenced productive garden zone incorporates wicking beds for herbs and vegetables, keeping the space practical, productive and safely contained. Thoughtfully designed and carefully constructed, this small garden delivers big on usability - made for living, growing and gathering.
