Opening in 2017, Newbury Primary School still had plenty of large areas requiring work, and significant drainage issues that needed to be resolved. Species selection was critical at this site due to it being on an exposed aspect of the western volcanic plains in Craigieburn, prone to high winds. The considered use of trees to provide additional summer shade also provides shelter from the high winter winds.

We have done a number of different works here from planting out garden beds, installing picnic tables with shade trees, feature trees, the front entrance landscape and developing a design concept for a large playspace area. We have tied in each different part of the school grounds through plants and materials selection to ensure it appears as a cohesive landscape.
